*** 2nd Weekend Games

May 14th, 2018

Saturday was supposed to be another day with a testy Mother Nature!  Our coaches did their part on getting the field ready for the day.  Saturday's Special was brought by Hannaford and it was no other than Chicken Riggies from Venice Pizzeria!  Sold out again for the second week in a row!

The first game of the day Stewarts faced Chapman. Jack LaFayette started out on the bump and pitched four innings, Mikey Stilwell came in to finish the game. The following all got at least on hit during the game: Jack LaFayette, Chris Stilwell, Mike Stilwell, Nick Wehrle, Carter Smith, Tyreke Cornett, Santino Pedulla (First Hit), Jax Hall and Tyler Jarvis. Playing most of the game w/o one of their leaders, the young Chapman team just couldn't find anyone to step up with a timely hit. Chapman stranded 10 base runners and couldn't overcome the constant offensive pressure that Stewart's gave. Nate Cencetti did a great job in relief of Jake Long, who was making his first regular season start of his LL career. Chapman made a few web gems in the field, led by Adam Gutkowski and Luke Van Etten. Offensively, Cullen Sheridan had another solid game at the plate, knocking in a run in the first inning on a RBI triple that scored Joey Gorsey.

Saturday’s second game starting pitcher Tony Dorozynski in 2 innings gave up 4 hits 0 runs. Frank Trotta came in to relieve him and was lights out 1 hit 4 strikeouts and 2 runs. Vets bats were unstoppable! Tony Dorozynski , Austin Stoquert, Anthony Sawanec and Zach Montana had 3 hits. Matt Brink came up with a big double with David Johnson hitting a triple and scored on a wild throw. Luke Johnson had 2 hits and Chase Stoquert had 3 hits. Jim Gilbride and Zach Gorden also had huge hits too. Final score was Vets 23 Hannaford 2 Hannaford, after suffering three tough losses in a row came out flat against a talented Vets team and took one on the chin. Hannaford was unable to muster much offensively with Lucas Tucker contributing 2 hits, Jacob Crouse a hit and a run scored, and Gabe O'Donnell with the only other Hannaford hit. Hannaford pitchers were ruffed up on the day yielding 23 runs on 16 hits and 8 walks.

WFD and Legion faced off Saturday in the last game on Saturday with WFD taking the win 10-6. Ty Montrose threw 4 solid innings for WFD allowing 4 runs, three of them on a Home Run by Noah Clausen in the first inning and Kyle Meier came in to finish up the game on the mound to secure the win. At the plate, Tyler Stivali and Devin Trevisani had two hits each and Kevin George led a group of four other players who all had hits for WFD. Besides driving in half of Legion's runs with one swing, Noah Clausen started on the hill and went 3 strong innings for Legion and Brayden Czternastek pitched the final three. In addition to Noah's HR, Chris Jennings and Memphis Ferguson also had hits for Legion. It was a great game between two good teams, a rematch you won't have to wait long to see as they will be playing again on Thursday for the Mid-Season matchup.
